GuitarBub hears every note through your mic or interface and times it to the millisecond: early, late or right in the pocket. Bub teaches the theory on the neck, the harmony wheel lines up every chord, arpeggio and sweep, and routines push your tempo up while you play. The free core is yours forever.

Play to the click
Every note timed early, late or in the pocket, in milliseconds, live on the timing bar.
Watch the number climb
Routines raise the tempo as you play clean. Progress graphs your best tempo, day by day.
Every note, timed while you play.
Each beat lit in notation, your offset and spread in milliseconds, the share of notes in the pocket, and one bar that shows which way you lean: dragging on the left, rushing on the right. It updates note by note, not after the fact.

The board just got a lot more guitar.
The newest GuitarBub is a whole practice rig on one page. Here it is, as it looks today.
See the scale and the key at once.
Every tone in the key lights up on the neck, named by degree (R, ♭3, 5), and the harmony wheel beside it shows the key's chords at a glance. Spin the wheel or pick a key and both follow together.

Spin to any key. See every shape.
Turn the wheel and the whole neck follows: chords, scales and arpeggios in the key you picked, named correctly.
- Arpeggio positions for every chord, across the whole neck, not one box
- Step through each voicing with ‹ › on the wheel
- Any tuning, mirrored for left-handers

Sweeps, ready to play.
Neoclassical, neo-metal, technical metal and shred sweeps, loaded as presets you can play along with, slow them down and speed them up.
- Pick the strings, the inversion and a roll note
- Each sweep lands as a preset in a Sweeps routine
- Followed note by note on the neck and the wheel

A click that pushes you.
Set a speed curve and every preset climbs, holds and settles faster, bar by bar, so your top tempo keeps moving.
- Tempo, time signature, grooves and tap tempo, all live as you play
- Up to 5 polyrhythm layers, each with its own sound, level and rhythm per beat
- The speed curve climbs the tempo while you stay clean PRO
A practice session that plays itself.
Chain your presets, each with its own tempo, meter and bar count, and press play once. GuitarBub runs the whole session, shows what's next and how long is left, and the speed curve lifts the tempo as you stay clean.

Tabs, with chord numbers PRO
Open your own Guitar Pro or MusicXML file, play it on the neck and follow the chords in Roman or Nashville numbers.
Master volume, 0 to 11
One knob levels the whole board, in real decibels. Yes, it goes to 11.
Progress
Your fastest clean tempo, graphed day by day, with streaks, levels and the lessons that got you there.
Universal settings
Every module's settings in one searchable panel. No hunting through gears.
Jam with Bub
Six grooves in any key, so you can solo over a real band feel instead of a lonely click.
Tuner built in
Tune up on the fretboard itself, in any tuning, before you hit play.

See yourself get faster.
No spreadsheets. Play, and GuitarBub logs your minutes, your timing, your fastest clean tempo and your streak, then turns it into levels and awards.
- Minutes against your daily goal, and a calendar of every day you showed up
- A timing grade and how much of your playing landed in the pocket
- Levels, XP, daily challenges and 48 awards to chase

This is Bub.
A fluffy, wild-haired rock legend with a red bandana and a Flying V named Vicky. He's played stadiums on seven planets, and he'd still rather watch you nail your first clean bend.
He teaches 106 lessons right on the neck, with quick checks every few cards and a short test at the end. Daily Bub keeps it fresh in two minutes a day.

GuitarBub vs the big names.
Price, what's free, and what each app actually does while you play, next to the practice apps players already know.
None of the five apps below advertise millisecond-level timing feedback on the notes you play. GuitarBub shows it on every note.
Of the five compared, only GuitarBub listens to your guitar and has a theory and ear curriculum, tempo ladders, a metronome and tabs together.
$7.77 a month is below every monthly plan we found for these five. And the core is free with no account and no card.

Where they win: if you want to play along to famous songs, Rocksmith+, Songsterr and Fender Play have licensed libraries we don't. If you want to write tabs, Guitar Pro is the tool. GuitarBub is built for one thing: making you faster and cleaner, and proving it.
Prices and features from each company's own pages and app store listings, checked 5 November 2026, US prices in USD. Prices change, so check their sites for today's. Good questions.
What's free and what needs Pro?
The fretboard with the harmony wheel, the tuner, the metronome with its timing readout and the first lesson of every track are free, forever. Pro opens every lesson after the first in each track, unlimited routines with the speed curve, Tabs, and sync between your devices. Locked things show in gray in the app, so you always know.
What do offset, spread and pocket mean?
Offset is how early or late your notes land against the click, in milliseconds. Spread is how much that wobbles from note to note. Pocket is the share of notes within 20 ms of the click. All three update live as you play.
How does the free trial work?
Pick Monthly, add your card, and you get 7 days free. If you don't cancel, the first charge of $7.77 goes through after day 7, then monthly. One trial per member.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Use Manage subscription in the app's account menu, or cancel at link.com. No call or email needed. You keep Pro until the end of the month you already paid for.
What do I get with Lifetime?
Pay $77.70 once and Pro is yours for good, including new lessons and features as they ship. No monthly charge, ever. It's a launch price, so it won't stay this low. If you're already on Monthly, upgrading stops the monthly plan for you.
Why does my statement say Link?
GuitarBub's checkout runs through Stripe's Link, so the charge shows as LINK.COM and the receipt comes from Link. Same plan, same cancel-any-time terms.
Do I need an audio interface, or will my laptop mic work?
Your mic works for lessons and the click. For timing your playing to the millisecond, a guitar through any audio interface is better, because it hears only the guitar.
Does it record me or upload anything?
No. The sound from your guitar is analysed in your browser as you play, and never leaves your computer. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Does GuitarBub work offline?
Yes. It runs in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. Add it to your home screen once while online and it keeps working without a connection.
Your next tempo is waiting.
Open GuitarBub, set the click, and find out where you really are. Free, forever, right now.
